In the human body we can distinguish three kinds of fat. The first is the structural fat which fills the gaps between various organs, a sort of packing material. Structural fat also performs such important functions as bedding the kidneys in soft tissue, protecting the coronary arteries and keeping the skin smooth and taut, it also provides the springy cushion of hard fat under the bones of the feet, without which we would be unable to walk.
Three Types of Body Fat
The second type of fat is a normal reserve of fuel upon which the body can freely draw when the nutritional income from the intestinal tract is insufficient to meet the demand. Such normal reserves are localized all over the body. Fat is a substance which packs the highest caloric value into the smallest space so that normal reserves of fuel for muscular activity and the maintenance of body temperature can be most economically stored in this form. Both these types of fat, structural and reserve, are normal, and even if the body stocks them to capacity this can never be called obesity.
But there is a third type of fat which is entirely abnormal. It is the accumulation of such fat, and of such fat only from which the overweight patient suffers. This abnormal fat is also a potential reserve of fuel, but unlike the normal reserves it is not available to the body in a nutritional emergency. It is, so to speak, locked away in a fixed deposit and is not kept in a current account, as are the normal reserves.
When an obese patent tries to reduce by starving himself, he will first lose his normal fat reserves. When these are exhausted he begins to burn up structural fat, and only as a last resort will the body yield its abnormal reserves, though by that time the patient usually feels so weak and hungry that the diet is abandoned. It is just for this reason that obese patients complain that when they diet they lose the wrong fat. They feel famished and tired and their face becomes drawn and haggard, but their belly, hips, thighs and upper arms show little improvement. The fat they have come to detest stays on and the fat they need to cover their bones gets less and less. Their skin wrinkles and they look old and miserable. And that is one of the most frustrating and depressing experiences a human being can have.

Hi Hayley, I just wanted to say thank you for this amazing program that you have put together. I noticed a friend doing this programme and thought it would be just perfect to help me with some weight and my hormones. I have been breastfeeding and or pregnant for the last 7 years with only 6mth break and I was wanting something to help me get my body back and balance my hormones. I could never have imagined that this programme would do all that and more for me. I realised that my inner body was struggling and very sluggish, but I didn’t realise it was that far off normal. I just wanted to send you a few lines expressing my thanks to you for the Fat Loss Program. This program has done more for my health than I could have imagined in a way that suits my personality, temperament AND lifestyle. I have completed several phases of the program and have been extremely pleased with the results. Apart from the fantastic weight/size reduction and the extra energy I now have, one benefit that has been surprising is the cost saving.
I understand that many people (me included) have reservations about how much some of these health programs can cost. We can justifying them by saying “what price do you put on you health?” and that may work some of the time but these days, everyone is sensitive to costs and we all economise to make ends meet.
With the Fat Loss Program, I decided to do the math (for my situation) and have been pleasantly surprised. I usually buy a coffee each day along with my lunch 5 days per week. I figure this is a reasonable presumption for most people so assuming $4 for a coffee ($20 per week) and $10 per lunch ($50 per week); by not having these expenses while on the program, I’m saving $70 per week. Over the 6 weeks of the program this starts to add up. Plus, when I add in the ‘comfort food’, snacks, take-out or even the odd restaurant meal I’m no longer having during the program the total money ‘saved’ adds up to much more than the initial cost of the program.
Not completely trusting my home economic calculations, I checked with my wife to see if there was any increase in the food/grocery bill because of the fresh fruit/veg & meat I was now consuming as part of the program. Surprisingly there were additional savings here too. Even during the Maintenance Phase where there is greater range and quantity of food we were still spending less on groceries than what I would have been spending before.
It seems rather ignorant of me to say that the Fat Loss Program has paid for itself because it should be viewed in a much higher context than mere dollars and cents. The ongoing health and lifestyle benefits are substantial and too numerous for me to describe in one letter. From a practical standpoint though, people will factor in the financial aspect when making their decision to start this program and I thought that sharing my experience might be of some practical benefit to them.
